Gittip is very similar to social site. However, there is huge difference between "ordinary" social site and Gittip, where people can help each other by giving away money for free.
If you are member of Gittip, you can give small cash gifts to other members, on weekly basis. You can give cash gift to any other Gittip member, no string attached.
Of course, you can also receive cash gifts from other members, once a week. Registered members can give away cash gifts as small as $0,01 (mean 1,- U.S. cent), up to $100,-, once a week. |
It seems that the original idea of Gittip was to give people the opportunity, to give small amounts of money, in order to say "thank you" for others work, performance or social activity, to name a few reasons.
However, life do not have to be so complicated.
We (at Best Financial Directory) support the whole idea of giving away money for free. We do not have to have any reason to give cash gift to stranger.
Gittip is a very good platform to do so, mean giving small cash gifts without any reason, just for pure pleasure of giving. Don't you think so?

How Gittip Works
You simply sign up for a Gittip account, by using username and password of any other social site supported, like Twitter, GitHub, Bitbucket or OpenStreetMap. Perhaps, we will see more options to sign up or sign in, in the future.
Best Financial Directory had joined Gittip already and we are present there under the username: FinancialBest. The right picture show the part of our Gittip profile, in the moment when we started our adventure there.
We had joined Gittip using our Twitter account, as it seems the easiest way for us. After you signed up, please update your profile by writing few sentences in your statement and your funding goal. You can also join some communities, if you like so. You can use our profile as a sample and source of inspiration, if you like so. |
Cash gifts are distributed every thursday. Your gifts to other members, come out of your current balance (the money people have given to you), and if that's not enough, Gittip can charge your credit card to make up the difference.
You can also withdraw money, if you receive gifts from others.
Please visit Gittip's About and FAQ pages, for more details.

What we like on Gittip
- We like the easy way you can deposit money by using credit or debit card. Gittip started using services of Balanced Payments (credit card processor).
Visa and MasterCard cards virtually from around the world can be charged (minimum amount charged by Gittip is $10,-), in order to deposit funds into your Gittip account. We hope that our credit card details are safe at our Gittip account, which is not stated in the 'About' or 'FAQ' pages. We are also waiting for withdrawing funds procedures to become much easier for non-US residents, in the future.
